Meditation is so much more than thinking on something, trying to relax or trying to do anything. In fact, trying is the opposite of meditation. To meditate on a thought is simply, thinking. Relaxation exercises can be helpful with falling asleep or becoming calm as are breathing exercises and are the first steps in Royal Meditation. Most people who are interested in meditation have a desire to reach other realms of consciousness. In order to do that, one must go beyond the relaxation exercises.
To reach higher levels of consciousness, one must go deeper into the mind to reach the Source some call, God, the All, the Void, the Cosmic, etc. This level of consciousness is where all answers live; where inspiration, creativity and healing originate.
During meditation, one may travel through the depths of the soul, through the universe within and without. This is the true purpose of meditation, going within to reach the universe. This level of consciousness knows your question before you ask and gives answers.
More and more people daily are realizing the connection we have with the universe and each other. This knowledge is spreading rapidly. Even traditional science is catching up with ancient wisdom. Quantum physics has been bringing traditional science to the realm of metaphysics.
